Look...

"When it rains look for rainbows, when it's dark look for stars."

There is something about seeing a rainbow or gazing up at the stars that offers hope or just a reason to smile. Maybe because they seem magical, out there in the big world. Whatever the reason I am always looking for the rainbow when I see the rain and the sun peeking out, and it's hard not to lift your eyes up to the sky just to look in the darkness.

Dinner...

Last night as I was eating dinner there was a nice rain outside. Others in my area were getting a lot worse weather, but I decided to just put aside my book or phone ( that I usually have if I'm eating by myself) and savor the food that was in front of me and enjoying the beautiful present moment. It was lovely!!!

Five Words...

Clouds, rain, hazy, shade and breeze are all words that take on a whole new meaning when most of the work you do is outside and your car has no air condition. This five words are now ones I view with a new perspective. I've always enjoyed the clouds and shade on a hot summer day but right now, they can be the life saver in a week or a day. Today was one of those days, and I didn't notice until I got home what a difference the clouds/rain made. I had a little more energy and actually felt like doing more when I got home instead of sitting down for a couple of hours just to generate enough energy to make dinner. It's the little things ~ I am grateful!!!

Dance...

As I was running errands this morning, the sky was fairly blue and the sun peaked out of the clouds, leaving no indication of what was to come. Well by the time I got ready to leave the store to put the groceries in my car the sky fell open and dumped A LOT of rain. My first thought was "Oh NO" how am I going to get to my car with a cart full of groceries, I have no umbrella, etc. Then later today I thought, " wouldn't it have been nice if I hadn't worried so much about getting wet and just embrace the rain and decided to dance!

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass... it's learning to dance in the rain."

Sunflowers...

Several years ago a friend, my daughter and I went to go see a field of sunflowers. They are one of my favorites! But during the year we went we were having a lot of drought and the fields were not very full or vibrant. Now with the endless rain this year I bet they are beautiful, but I didn't think of it until I saw this picture and it may be to late in the season to go. But it is a very fond memory indeed...

Sun...

Decided I needed to bring in my own sunshine since we have had thirteen days straight of rain. I'm feeling a bit waterlogged! Makes me realize that I have taken the sun for granted, that it will always shine. So I'm sorry "Sun" for not appreciating your warmth and beauty. Looking forward to your return upon my face.

Friendship...

My wonderful friendships are like rain that has slowly over time, softening my barren existence. Underneath there, lay waiting, a desire, a yearning for more. New life has started to grow and blossom and with each rainfall (gathering of friends) I feel my roots growing deeper, helping me stand strong and providing shelter and safety when weathering the storms. The sun does not always shine and when left in the dark, I have a "knowing" that I am cared for and loved and can wait until the light returns to shine again.
I am ever so grateful on this new day, in this new year, in this present moment for my friendships both old and new. I can feel the growth, the new life, the softening and I THANK YOU...

Haiku

the rain cascades down
as the roots drink from the bounty
refreshed and renewed
