Motivation - Inspiration

Years ago I had a natural weaving hung on my bedroom wall full of gathered wonders found on hikes taken with friends and family. When I moved, it was to fragile to take with me... four years later, I have another one ready for mother nature's treasures. It motivates and inspires me to get outside more and be present to all that surrounds me.

Park...

A nice day outside plus time plus my daughter up earlier than expected equals a walk in a new park. We decided to find something that wasn't too far from home but we wanted to find somewhere new to explore. We found a park that didn't have a lot of wooded trails but it did have a really nice open trail that my daughter felt more comfortable to go jogging on some time. Then it was time to head home to make breakfast for dinner... Yummy!

Outside...

This is my view when I decided to take my yoga practice outside today. The only think missing is the sound track... birds chirping, the wind fluttering the leaves, cicadas singing and the sound of the morning silence. It was just so beautiful out I couldn't resist!

Dinner...

Last night as I was eating dinner there was a nice rain outside. Others in my area were getting a lot worse weather, but I decided to just put aside my book or phone ( that I usually have if I'm eating by myself) and savor the food that was in front of me and enjoying the beautiful present moment. It was lovely!!!

Five Words...

Clouds, rain, hazy, shade and breeze are all words that take on a whole new meaning when most of the work you do is outside and your car has no air condition. This five words are now ones I view with a new perspective. I've always enjoyed the clouds and shade on a hot summer day but right now, they can be the life saver in a week or a day. Today was one of those days, and I didn't notice until I got home what a difference the clouds/rain made. I had a little more energy and actually felt like doing more when I got home instead of sitting down for a couple of hours just to generate enough energy to make dinner. It's the little things ~ I am grateful!!!

Happy...

Being out in nature, even if it's just my back yard makes me happy. I don't know if other people feel the connection with nature too, but there is something about just stepping outside, walking among the trees, hearing nature sing, that changes my whole outlook. It puts me in a happy place that no other thing can do.

Breakfast...

This morning I ate my breakfast outside before I went to work and it brought a smile to my face. The birds fluttered around, the sun was slowly beginning to raise, the bee's hummed, the tree's danced in the breeze... in that present moment "all was well!"

Hug...

As I stepped outside to check on my blueberry bushes I transplanted last week into pots so I could move them when needed, I just stopped. My back was to the sun, the air was a bit cool, and I just stood there feeling the rays of the sun on my back. It felt like a hug from mother nature... and it made me smile.

Outside...

"Sometimes, you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be."

That's what nature does for me... It reminds me of who I am and what I want to continue to be. My son and I went for a walk today on a beautiful trail, took our shoes off and walked in the cool damp grass. Life is good... thank you mother nature for your gentle nudges and constant reminders.

Almost missed...

A tree outside my back door is in full color and it happened when I wasn't looking. I had a busy couple of weeks and didn't really get outside. When I finally did I was welcomed with this magnificent tree. The photo doesn't express the magnitude of it's beauty and because it is so close it really is a show stopper. But it was a good reminder of what happens when I'm not present even in the busy moments of my life. I have lived in my house for twenty years and look forward to the fall color display every year. This year I almost missed it... Whew
