Alive...

" Always find time for the things that make you feel happy to be alive."

I would like to say "in the new year-I will..." but my thought is when your ready to do something why wait. My intention for the last week has been to allow myself to find time to do the things that make me feel happy and alive, no matter how small that is. I've spent a lifetime "wanting" to do so many creative projects but not allowing myself until all the "have to... should do" gets done. There is a saying that defines insanity as, "doing the same thing over and and expecting different results." And my mind wants to say "not so kind" things about myself, like how I got to be this age and haven't really done this, or don't even bother because you know things will happen and you won't keep doing it, and on and on my negative self talk goes. But from what I wrote in my last post I am trying to refrain from listening to that and just be kinder.

Years...

"There are years that ask questions and years that answer."
Zora Neale Hurston

I feel like for most of my life have been about the question, and have I been listening? I've always been in a hurry to find out the answer and that not listening close enough, has lead to choices that didn't feed my soul. My intention as the New Year approaches is to listen deeper and follow the answers that leave me feeling full.

Joy...

"Joy does not simple happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day."
Henry Drummond

This reminds me of something a friend told me once when he got married. He said commitment is something he has to choose everyday. In my life I have to set my intentions to see my cup half full or half empty. Too choose JOY in each present moment even if it takes me awhile to get there.

Live...

"Live everyday with intention"

I'm not sure I live with intention everyday. I think I forget about the present moment I'm in, and get lost in life. Maybe setting an intention each morning would help bring the awareness to my day.

Positive...

Today started out as a struggle to maintain my positive outlook, but I was determined to not go down that slipper slope, and when I made that decision I had one thing after the other happen to reinforce that intention. It started with this sign someone randomly put among the cookies at the check out, then as I was leaving the store, I ran into a lady who I had known from living in my community ( our kids went to the same school when they were little) and she stopped and chatted with me and said when the weather stays warm we should go for a walk. Then the rain held off until I got done with dog walking. The the lady who runs the pet sitting service text me to let me know someone made a comment to her that I always leave the best written updates for the clients. I think a couple more things happened but they escape me now ( that's what happens when I don't write them down). All in all ~ ( as the note said)  Today is a GREAT DAY!

My Favorite Thing...

"Wishy"

~ is what I've called this weed since I was a little girl. It has always been one of my favorite things. There is something about looking at this and seeing natures wonder, its detailed perfection. Makes me pause and take a step back into letting go of all those tiny details in my life that will come together if I stop resisting. If I let go of "my" detailed perfection and just "be" in the present moment. My life's intentions will be blown in the wind, just as a wishy on a bluster day with no idea of where they may land. With no idea where I will be planted "anew." When you blow on a "wishy"of intentions, you scatter endless possibilities.

My present moment intention.......

We must do as the flower does. The flower is aware of the fact that it contains everything within it, and it does not try to become something else.
