My Six Senses...

I saw a post on someone's blog the other day about their five senses, so I thought it would be an interesting idea to write mine down today and add in the sixth.

Tasting: crunchy granola, beans and rice, toast with peanut butter. water with lemon, bean soup

Hearing: birds singing, tv, roaring cars, children's laughter, clanging dishes

Seeing: grocery store, cars, computers, my backyard, my home,

Smelling: beans cooking, burritos baking, fresh laundry

Knowing: All is well and I am safe, I am loved

Present Reminder...

This photo just looks like a nice place to be in the present moment . Lately people have been reminding me how "un-present" I have been. They will ask or tell me about something relating to something that I routinely do or go and I have not even noticed what it was they mentioned. And when they bring it to my attention it is very obvious. But it's just a good reminder for me to bring myself back to this present moment and involve my senses. Ask myself ~ what do I see, smell, hear, taste?

Awakening...

How to awaken the stagnate senses in my everyday life?

Go for a walk in a different place then the usual.
Eat a vegetable raw instead of cooking it.
Take a different route in your driving routine and drive slower.
Read a random book from a genre you've never tried before.
Add an unusual spice to your dish and see what you think.

It doesn't have to be sky diving or a climb to Mt. Everest to awaken the senses. To come alive and alert takes only a small change in your present moment.
