Drink...

 " The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man."

This is what happens when my soul gets lost in everyday... building, cars, businesses, highways, schedules. I need to find that space where nature is pure and untouched. Where it is free to grow wild and allows me to breath in it's essence and beauty that I often loose site of. It teaches me to let go and just be one with all that is. To once again drink in mother natures peace...

Men...

Growing up there weren't a lot of positive men in my life and then when I married my former husband he introduced me to one awesome man, his name was Father Eugene McCreesh. He was a Jesuit priest and just a very compassionate man. He uses to go to the beach with us every year and came up to the house on every occasion. My middle son was named after him. I was missing him a lot today, missing his quiet words, his big bear hugs, and his loving presence. But I am forever grateful that I have such kind and wonderful memories to remember!

Side of the road...

When I pulled up to a stop light today, there was a man standing there with a sign that he was homeless and needed money. My thought has always been to give him some without judgement. Does it really matter what he choose to use it for. But as I gave him the money I thought later - he is someone's son, maybe someone's father, he's a man with a story, a past and hopefully a future. I left him with loving thoughts to make the choices that are right for his life.

Little Girl...

When I was a little girl I use to have a plague on my night stand that said;

"If a man does not deep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears however measure or far away."
Henry David Thoreau

I always felt I was on a different page then those I lived with, but not free enough to step to my own music. Today I'm trying to do just that!

brick and mortar...

Twenty years ago when I first moved to the house I still live in, we would pass a dairy farm with its cow smells and green pastures and drive in a round-a-bout way to arrive home. The stars would shine bright in the darkness and the crickets chirp could be heard.
A lot has changed, buildings are all around, streets have grown wider, parking lots have take over natures habitat and you have to drive out into the remote area to even see the long ago bright stars.
Lately I am reminded of the nature that hangs on in spite of the ever growing brick and mortar. A lone woodpecker who wakes me with its "rat-a-tat-tat" on a near by tree keeps me reminded of the animals and wildlife that adapt and refuse to be taken over by man. It's a nice sound to hear first thing in the morning before I start my day. Before I awake and see the cars racing by and the building that glare at me across the street. It helps me center myself, not in the hustle and bustle of everyday but in the quiet and peacefulness that only nature can provide.
