Winter...

While I was out and about walking dogs, I decided to enjoy winter's beauty and I snapped a few pictures.

End of my Week in Pictures...

Cute little shoes left my a sweet child to busy living life to remember they left their shoes!

A weed has beauty

A single rose petal fluttered to the ground

Mini tree growing where it was planted

Pretty fern like plants randomly growing beneath my feet

A polka dotted leaf

Beauty left behind after the rose petals fall off

One day collection of leaves

I loved this metal shaped tree that someone had mounted on the side of their house

My butterfly still blooming in mid-October

Notice...

This was on someone's railing ( pretty cool... I thought).

I had mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to start taking more pictures using my phone. One thing I noticed since I've been doing that, is it makes me take notice of the small details, the present moment's in my day. It helps me pause... and that's a "good thing!"

Pictures...

I took this picture this morning

Many many years ago I got a two year degree in Graphic Arts and my goal was to finish my other two years in photography... but that never happened! I have found myself this past week ( and other times since I gave up the dream) wanting to take photos again. But I don't want at this time to invest in or use a camera, just play a little taking pictures with my phone. It felt good...

Camera...

"Life is like a camera...
Focus on what's important.
Capture the good times.
Develop from the negative, and if things don't work out,
take another shot."

When I was in my twenties, I went to a community college to get my associate degree in graphic arts ( not what I wanted, but that's another story, for another day), and I took photography as an elective and loved it. I even had high hopes of continuing on to finish my next two years in photography. But somewhere along the way I lost that and when I saw this quote it brought that feeling back. But it's something to thing about doing more of, as another creative outlet in my life. All my children have enjoyed taking pictures, and my oldest son use to build pin hole cameras and had a dark room in his home.

Butterflies...

Sometimes when I don't know what I'm going to write about, I look through pictures and a memory emerges. This picture reminded me of when my children were young and we sent away for a kit to watch butterflies grow and then release them. It was a fun project and a sweet memory!

Collage...

For some reason I'm feeling like I need to start a new collage. It just feel like I need to finish out my year with a new perspective. Why wait until the new year for a new vision? I've always loved collaging. I remember one time I was collaging and two of my children really liked the idea and started participating with me and we all sat at my big dinning room table and just cut pictures and words for hours and created a really fun memory!

Sketchbook...

I'm excited to be thinking about what creative muse may spring onto the page when I get my sketchbook this year. I'm planning on ordering it soon, which will be nice instead of waiting until the last minute and then feeling the pressure to get it done on time. The first year only my daughter participated and then the next year we both did. I really didn't think I was going to do it again but I found myself looking forward to the creative process. I hope to remember to take pictures to share this time.

Instant Gratification...

We live in a digital world where everything we need or want to know is at our fingertips. Who doesn't love instant gratification! Lately my daughter has taken to the old film camera's I have around the house. She liked the idea that you would take a set of pictures and it would be a total surprise when they were developed. Plus I think when you take pictures with a film camera, you have to rely on instinct because you can't look at what you just shot. The digital world has its advantages but there is something to be said for the old fashion way of life. Take what you like and leave the rest...
