Winter to Spring

"I'm going to try and pay attention to the spring. I'm going to look around at all the flowers, and look up at the hectic trees. I am going to close my eyes and listen."
Anne Lamont

Winter has much to offer if I pause long enough to see. To linger in appreciation at the hidden treasures now visible through the absence of distractions. As winter comes to say goodbye, spring knocks at the door to be welcomed.
Today there was time to play, to plant and dig in the dirt. New growth is anticipated and a hunger for the freshness that a new season brings and a chance to see things differently.

PJ's...

Today was a rare day of no where to go, so I just stayed in my pajamas and enjoyed the day. I played, cleaned, slept and cooked! So nice to call a day my own. Part of me wanted to just do a whole lot of nothing and if I'd had another day on which to play I might have but I tried to do a little of all I wanted to get done. I enjoyed "my" day!

Pictures...

I took this picture this morning

Many many years ago I got a two year degree in Graphic Arts and my goal was to finish my other two years in photography... but that never happened! I have found myself this past week ( and other times since I gave up the dream) wanting to take photos again. But I don't want at this time to invest in or use a camera, just play a little taking pictures with my phone. It felt good...

My Kitchen...

Today I was given a gift to pick out a few kitchen items for my birthday last week and it was so exciting! I love to play in my kitchen and make homemade "love." Can't wait to get home and play!!!

Furry...

As I was doing my many pet sits today, I thought how nice it was of the owners to pay someone to come in at least once or twice a day just to walk and play with their animals. If your going to be gone all day most everyday, what a great gift for your pet. Hats off to all the pet owners out there... I applaud you for your extra loving care to your furry family members.

The Play...

Today we are going to watch my niece in a play. I'm so excited because I love plays. When my children were younger I use to take them to the Children's Theater and a few times as they have gotten older. Secretly as a teenage I wanted to act so bad, I would walk by the drama room in high school and WISH I had the nerve to participate, but I never did. I know it does no good to have regrets in life but sometimes that feeling creeps up and "I wish I could have", but I didn't and that's okay. I have done many creative things in my life and being able to be a mother to my three children tops anything or any regrets I could have.

A Witness to creativity.....

Everyday life offers endless possibilities and there is enough for everyone.

I am in AWE of what a mind can do when given the space to roam free. My two youngest children have had the gift of creative freedom. Their days are filled with open space on which to explore and experiment. They are not govern by rules of what creativity should look like. My job has been to move and arrange their lives so when the muse flows there is an avenue to follow where it needs to go. I am a witness to what trust can develop into. Trusting in my children to fail and succeed as they play with life, as I stand beside them offering a safe place for them to be. Each day my children remind me to play more and to set myself free.

creative loafing .........

Don't overlook the importance of play.
The balance of mental and physical activity can be a powerful formula.

I am finding a balance between work and play and trying to make my work seem more like play. And then there are the times of doing nothing. I find that harder to do then either work or play. To allow my mind and body to just be, and to let everything rest in the present moment.
