Refuge...

"The library had become her solace. Her refuge. Books did not question or judge. They made safe companions."
Inglath Cooper, Truth and Roses: A Love Story

We all need a place of refuge from life. I'm glad my children feel that way about their home and with friends and families homes. To find refuge to relax, to not have to feel like you have to be anything but your imperfect, perfect self is a time to gather strength to keep moving forward in each present moment.  When I'm not able to be with those people who provide solace, I find it in books, nature, food, art, quiet time, and animals.

Morning...

"Life just is. You have to flow with it. Give yourself to the moment. Let it happen."
 ~ Jerry Brown
   American politician

This picture looked like a good place to start my day. The ocean holds great memories, old and new. It relaxes me to look out over the vast ocean, listening to the waves and let "life flow, letting it happen." I always offer such resistance to life and I need a constant reminder to "give myself to the moment." I will breath deeply and "let it happen."

Giving up struggle-letting go

To receive is to be willing to give up all unnecessary struggle and lack.
(borrowed words from the book: be happy  by: Robert Holden)

The present moment is fleeting. I'm here, in the moment, and then my mind is off to, what about this, what about that, which sets off my panic button. The panic that feels I am the one that has to figure it out. I forget to relax and I think I must do-do something to fix it, find it, change it. The moments are lost. Being present is simple. I forget to stop struggling and enjoy.

Shift happens when you let go!
