Missed...

I don't remember the last day I've written on my personal blog this week, but I do know I've missed it. I made a commitment to myself over a year ago that I would show up for my writing, no matter how small and I've done that by writing everyday on my blog. But this was an exceptionally busy ( in a good way) week and I was SO tired when I got home I couldn't even see straight. So I will just be kind and tell myself I do a great job and just because I fell off the wagon, so to speak, I will continue to show up and share my thoughts.

Personal...

"Sometimes I shut down and don't talk to anyone for days. It's nothing personal."
Raine Cooper

I do this from time to time and I would hope that others don't take it personally. As an introvert it's a way of recharging. Being out in the world is very hard for me and it takes a lot of energy - sometimes more then others. And on those times when I'm so drained, I shut down and retreat.

Lesson...

"Don't take it personal"

This is a statement someone use to say to me all the time. And it's a lesson I'm still continuing to learn, though I must say it comes a bit quicker then it use too. Sometimes it's hard to remember when someone does or says something, it's more about them then it is about you. But in that present moment when the feeling stings, it can be hard to NOT take it personal. As with any lesson, it's about progress not perfection.

It's Personal...

Today I took a "personal day" to do "almost" nothing. I stayed in my bed until about 2pm and finally got up to eat. Then went back to bed, slept a little more, watched TV, and just did as little as possible! It felt good not to even get out of my PJ's, not to "have to" go anywhere or feel like I needed to do anything! I've done this before, it happens about once or twice a year. It feels like I'm resetting my mind and starting over. Sometimes I just need a little "up close and personal time."

Personal...

One of the greatest lessons I'm learning in life is to "not take it personally." Whatever the situation may be, it may sting in the moment but when you can let it go and realize it's more about the other person then about you then it's easier to "not take it personal." Now that doesn't mean I can't look at my own reflection and see things I can or could have done differently and learn from it, but when you don't take it personal you can be more objective and allow that moment to be, without judgement for either person.

Up Close and Personal...

I've made it a habit when checking out at a store to notice the persons name. Then as I'm leaving I say thank you (and say their name). They always glance up at me and a smile spreads across their face. It's a nice gesture to offer the many people we encounter each day. It adds that personal touch and it's just a small simple thing that acknowledges their presences and the job their doing.
