Movie...

Tonight I rested and did what my body needed. I eat dinner, put my pajamas on, got ready for bed and watched a movie. I watched "If I Stay" and I really like the way it was done. It could have been a really really sad movie but the focus was on the love and the people that made up their life, not the death. It wasn't overly dramatic or sappy, just a really well-done movie... I enjoyed the rest and entertainment!

Sitting...

Today was about sitting with a friend who needed comfort. She is grieving and just wanted some familiar company to help her mind think of something besides the powerless situation she is in. We spent hours with small talk, and quiet space, after thirty plus years of knowing each other that is enough. I brought her something to nourish her body and left having nourished her spirit... all in all a good day!

Dark...

It's that time of year again... when darkness arrives sooner then I had hoped. With each passing year I've come to embrace all the seasons. They each have there own uniqueness to appreciate, but it takes me longer in the winter to adjust to the early, dark evening sky. My body just wants to stop all activities and snuggle up somewhere comfy. I am still learning from the absence of light when winter introduces herself once again.

Yoga...

"Yoga is not for the flexible. It's for the willing."

I've been doing my morning yoga for quit some time now, and the last three days I've missed doing it and I can tell. It's the oil for my body and the routine offers a comfort all its own. Back to the usual!

Mush...

Not sure the picture related, but I LOVE tree's and it was to pretty to pass up!

I'm not sure what is going on with me this week and sometimes I don't need to find an explanation, but I have just felt like my body AND mind have been like "mush" this week. I kept hoping it would get better but it's Thursday and I'm still feeling like everything is off kilter. I push myself to do what I have to, but the spring in my step has not returned. I usually have a day or two of feeling a bit off but not usually a week. I'm trying to offer no resistance and listen to my mind, body and spirit, hopefully to gain insight and maybe feel the passing of this "funk."

Body...

I was thinking today as I did my regular yoga routine, how our bodies are run like a well oiled machine when taken care of. And I thought of yoga like the oil keeping my bones and joints moving ( kind of like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz) and my thriving to eat healthy as the fuel in my tank that keeps me going strong. But for me it all stems for an every growing "self love"~ that is an ongoing process. Are there days when I wonder if I even ate a fruit or vegetable all day ~ absolutely, are there days when doing yoga and being still and meditating seem like it's to much work and it's easier to just skip it ~ absolutely! But my awareness of self care/self love brings me "back to center" and I start over again because I feel worthy...

Sooth...

My schedule the last couple of weeks has been crazy!!! And trying to write on my blog... I am feeling brain dead. But with the passing of Maya Angelou, I will just take a moment to pause ~ and leave a quote from her to sooth my mind, body and spirit.

"People know themselves much better than you do. That's why it's important to stop expecting them to be something other than who they are."

Egg...

Sometimes it's the simple things in life... like waking this morning knowing I have a beautiful egg I can have for breakfast. The egg comes from a friend I hold dear and she cares about her chickens and their health. The egg not only nutritious my body but my soul today. I know exactly where it comes from and it provides good energy. Yes... it is only a simple egg, but offers so much!

My Body...

My body is telling me to slow down. I'm not feeling good and even though I have to work today, there are things I can do to take care of myself. I'm taking herbs, vitamins and teas to boost what my body is lacking. And I will rest as much as I can when I get home and on the days following when it's possible.  When my body speaks I'm learning to listen.

Authentic Me...

The more I supplement what my body needs from "Mother Nature" the more authentic I feel. It's hard to explain but it's like when I walk in the woods, there is something there that I connect with and feels like "me." I remember trying different exercises over the course of my life and one time I tried yoga. It brought me that same connection and feeling " it's me.". Being a mother has ALWAYS brought me a connection that felt right, and my hope is, in this new stage of my life, I will continue to stay in tune with my mind, body, spirit and follow what makes me feels right, and "Authentically me!

Surrounded...

Today I worked in and around a group of people who where all searching for a better way to care for their body, mind and spirt.
It was nice...

Rest...

Today's day of rest was not planned, it was just necessary! My body woke up and needed the down time and I am grateful I did not HAVE to do anything so I could listen and allow my body what it desperately wanted. There are always a million and one things I have on my list but today they would just have to wait until tomorrow.

It's the little things...

I'm struggling with a cold right now and I have to scale my life back to simple. So it's the little things I appreciate at this present moment. I've been buying fresh eggs from a friend and when I cook it makes me feel good about what I'm putting into my body. Even if it's just an egg. If you've never tried a fresh from the farm egg you should. The yolk is a gorgeous deep golden color. The taste is wonderful, and nothing goes to waste, because I wash the shells out, dry them and grind them up to put in my garden. Give it a try, you'll discover just how yummy an egg can be.

Still resting...

Yes, today I am still trying to rest. You see I used the word "trying". It is something I want to become more comfortable with - resting when my body speaks. I not only want to hear what my heart is speaking but I want to listen to my body too. I am working on living a more conscious life, which for me means listening more deeply to myself, eating more consciously, leading me to a more plant based diet and making more conscious choices with everything I do. For me it's not something I have been able to just decide and then it always feels that way, it seems it's an awareness I need to wake up with each day and then in that present moment I can make a conscious choice over and over again in each moment . Today I am choosing to rest because my body speaks...
